from mompos we headed in the direction of san gil where we stayed on a delightful hippy campsite complete with hippy bus, hippy toilet, hippy shower and hippies. And goats. tried my hand at white water rafting which was great fun and had our first experience of camping. from san gil we went to manizales, or a coffee plantation nearby, coffee was free and unlimited. What a trip on the Dragoman truck...starting with a day on the white sandy beaches of playa Blanco in Cartagena we drove to tayrona national park and slept in the comfort of outdoor hammocks, climbed el publito to see some ancient ruins in mid 30 degree heat, cooled off fully clothed in the sea with a tin of aguila (always goes down smooth). Friday's excursion was to see the Perito Moreno glacier, a massive moving sheet of ice. I went to see it at its end, as it melts and falls apart into the lakes of the los glaciers national park. Only an hour and half from Calafate and with some pretty cool views whilst travelling too it was well worth a visit. Just beautiful, no pictures will ever do it justice. A dreary day turned into a great sunshine at TDP national park. soooo many photos to bore people with but what views, we had waterfalls, wildlife, lakes and of course the mountains! Sun glistening through the patchy cloud at the summit provided some unrivalled views, that changed from minute to minute. Could havespent a lot longer there.
