So, got to Athens and, so bloody stereotypical, got ripped off by a cabby as I forgot to get him on the meter...45 euros for a ride from the airport. Then the cool stuff started - Meeting my bestest girl in reception then up to the rooftop bar and pool area for a swim and a beer looking out over the rooftops, the Parthenon lit up on the horizon for all to see.

The next day, it was on the opentop bus in the 34 degree heat, to see the Parthenon up close ... As well as the Temple of Zeus and the site for the first modern Olympic games. A lot of columns and very cultural indeed! After last night's gyros (kebab) lunchtime saw a tapas-style selection of delicious grub.
Good points - amazingly hot weather, lovely food, friendly people. Bad points - too hot weather, friendly cabbies out to rip you off, all the junkies on the street shooting up in the street around the hotel!!!
Athens, a city of contrast. Oh, and everything is bloody expensive. 3 quid for a coke and 6 quid for a pint! Boo!
On the ferry to the islands tomorrow :)
