Unfortunately now and again it rains in Fiji and for us arriving in Korovou, it rained, although there was still a reception ceromony going on for us. On them shouting BULA, it took my attention away from the slippery path I was walking down and nearly resulted in me going for an early swim, but luckily my cat like reflects kept me upright and I got to our dorm soaked anyway!
Since the rain was ruining our paradise view we opted for the alternate activity on Fiji; nap time! So we napped until dinner then watched the sunset over the now dry South Pacific Horizion. After we got entertained by the staff/locals with the BULA dance, they got us to learn the dance and partake in various other dances, which resembled kids party games, but after a few beers everyone loved! After the dancning was over and the power cut out, we all sat and stared at the perfect night sky, and pondered about lifes great questions, how do you get jam into a doughnut and did Tom ever catch Jerry. It was a good night, but a late one as we didnt get to bed until 1am which was a good 3 hours later than any previous night.
Our second day, resulted on us going snorkelling again, this time in search for Mantarays. Now I know something similar to this killed Steve Irwin, but sure upto this point I have probably encountered soo many dangerous animals and plants that if I havent died yets something called Manta couldnt kill me now. Luckily enough i did have to prove this as there were no Mantarays there as it was low season, but we did get to see some really good coral and some funky fish, which I had probably ate some night for dinner!
After snorkelling we just hung about the island not really doing much, but I did notice the staff kept disappeaaring every now and a again for around 20 minutes. Later I found out that they were sneaking off to watch the 7s rugby on the islands only tv, unfortunately Fiji lost to New Zealand again, which resulted in a lot of less happy Fijians!
The next morning, which was Sunday, we were all invited to the islands church service! It was a nice experience, with a lot of singing from the Minister adnd the organist, which was loud enough for the whole Island, and a lovely sermon about the prodigial son.
Although I havent mentioned alot about Korovou it was one of my favourite islands while in Fiji. Mainly because of the people and the resort setting!
