we arrived into brisbane and checked into are hostel the YHA we were a bit upset with the room it looked like a hospital/prison cell it was a brand new building for backpackers but they built it with lino floor metal beds and all white walls their just was no atmosphere. we went on a hunt to find a beach called city beach which was really nice their was a market on so we had a look at chrismas things and brought a few bit we then went back to the hostel and chilled out night it was nice to just chil out in bed watch some t.v on are laptop and to talk to jay and other people on skype.
we woke up late on christmas eve and decided to go try and find a ukuelele to buy to try and learn while we are away we found a green one and now working on becomeing the best players in the world :). we went out to try and find a bar for a drink but no one was out the whole city was dead and all the bars were closing 10.30 sharp because they had no bussiness we were both shocked. plan b a few drinks at the hostel.
we woke up on christmas day and it had no christmas feeling ever. we gave each other small pressents lynsey got nail varnish and hair clips and i got a terrys orange and cat food (coles vaules) which is on going joke between me and lynsey. we also had a card and pressents from zoe which was nice. for lunch we had beans on toast and done are washing as their was nothing else happening. that night we had a BBQ which was kangroo stakes with salad. me and lynsey really apprciate how much christmas is great at home and now couldnt believe we were washing are clothes on xmas day.
overall we thought aussie was average we didnt hate it but didnt fall in love with it, we found that it sells it self as a drinking country and partying a lot but that is not the case you cant get doubles or shots in most places, every were is dead a lot of the time and found there was not much to do and every thing just difficult. the beaches are great though and fraser island is fantastic. just for us the country is to spread out and always seems dead even in the citys.
