We headed south from Galway with our key stop for day two being the Cliffs of Moher. We made a few stops along the way to see more ruins before stopping at a wishing well, where whoever stands on the stone to make their wish must throw a coin backward, over their shoulder and into the well.Should your coin miss, you risk the reverse of the wish coming to fruition, and the conversion rate amongst our group was not high to say the least.
Despite the inclement weather at the time the Cliffs of Moher were a spectacular sight. While barriers keep tourists from getting too close to the edge, it didn't stop one Spanish chap who decided he'd ignore all warning signs and crawl right down to the edge for a peek over the 200 metre drop, plus the obligatory photo.
Our stop on night two was in the small town of Annascaul.Despite its population of only around 300, our new tour guide Don was quick to highlight the 8 different bars on the town's main drag.Being a Saturday, we had a great opportunity to get out to see one of the local watering holes in full flight, and it appeared as though the majority of the town's population were in attendance. Also being our first night merged with the 10 day tour group, the night was spent meeting more new tour buddies, many being fellow Aussies.
Our accommodation here was another story of note, being a hostel/bar owned by the tour company which they named The Randy Leprechaun.Unfortunately some locals didn't take kindly to the bright green building and the controversial name being plastered across the front, so while the building still exists it has lost its former paint job in favour of a much less offensive pale, vomit like green. Nice one!
