Well hello again to all.
I hope this postcard finds you all well?
Here we go with the update...
We left Noosa on the 18th and headed to Byron Bay. We made one stop on the way... to go Zorbing haha!
For those whom don't know, Zorbing is where you get put in a giant translucent bubble filled with water, and then the whole thing is pushed down a steep hill haha!
I have to say that Zorbing is quite good fun with both John and I both attempting to stay stood up on our way down the hill! Unfortunately I fell over and took Grist down with me!! But it was great fun and photos are up on this site.
So we arrived in Byron Bay in the evening. Once there we met up with Martha and Kirsty, whom we had met at Kroombit, which was good. We also met a girl named Pam, from Canada. We all went out for dinner at a Tex-mex across the road from our hostel. After that we just chilled out at the hostel.
The next day Pam and I spent the afternoon at the beach, enjoying the crystal clear water and awsome white sand! I was great to finally spend some time at a beach as it was the first time in two and a half months!
Later in the evening Pam, Grist and I went to the Cheekey Monkeys pub for a cheap dinner and I took part in a pub competition, and managed to win a day trip to Nimbin, a hippy town near Byron Bay! Unfortunately I decided I didn't want to go and so I gave the ticket to Pam, whom wanted to go. We all carried on drinking in the pub and met up with some people afterwards... and then we all ended up skinny dipping at the beach at 3:45am!!! Great fun!
The next day Pam, Grist and I hired bikes from the hostel and we rode all the way up to Cape Byron and the lighthouse there. The photograph oppertunities were amazing and the views beautiful including a pod of dolphins, a sea turtle, and a manta ray. And so it was that we had visited the Eastern most point of Australia!
In the evening we had dinner and just chilled out as we were leaving for Surf Camp the next morning!
So the next day we headed to Surf Camp in Arrawarra. Once there we immediately got into our board shorts and rashies, and headed to our surf lesson. It went very well and I found that I seem to be adept at the surfing business! I may even have a go at it when I return to the island. In the evening Gristy and I went through a 30 pack of VB and everyone went down to the beach to party!
On the evening of the 22nd we arrived in Sydney. I took Grist for a walk around the main areas of the city and spent a bit of time catching up on the internet.
Since then we have basically been chilling out, but here are a few things of note that we have done...
On Saturday 24th we met up with my cousin Anna and together with some of her friends we all went out for the night. We went to several pubs and bars, and we had a great night.
The next day we met up with Sam, the chap I met in Kiakoura, NZ. We had an excellent stir fry, cooked by myself, and then went swimming in the rooftop pool at our hostel.
The next day we met with Sam and Gristy's ex and went out for dinner at the Lowenbrau restaurant, which was very good. After that we went to the cinema to watch 'Reign Over Me' and I really enjoyed it. After that I went back to the hostel and bed, whilst Grist stayed out.
Today Grist and I went to the Sydney science museum and it was quite interesting, although I have to say that my history interests lay a bit further in the past! Anyway it was good and after that we walked around the city for a bit.
And so that has been our time in Sydney. Tomorrow we begin our journey to Melbourne, which will take four days with the Oz Experience. Our next stops include Jindabiyne, Buchan and Fosters, before getting to Melbourne on the 30th.
So... there we are, all up to date! Hope it hasn't been too boring haha! I am now going to catch an early nights sleep as we are up at 6am tomorrow for the Oz Ex bus! So good night everybody, until the next time...
Baity aka John aka Jersey signing off.....
