Our visit to Potosi has been one of the craziest, interesting but also saddest of the trip so far. A 'city' around 4060m above sea level (highest of its kind in the World) and built up on the mining industry from the mountain that towers over the city. The last few days were spent in the old capital of Bolivia, Sucre. We arrived after a night bus from hell! An ancient local single decker bus that was falling to pieces, I had a chair that didn't recline and there were locals in every crevice you could think of. Boarder crossing opened which was a relief after we herd rumours it had shut during the Brazilian bank holiday. Smooth crossing and onto a 9 hour bus to Santa Cruz. We opted against the 'Death Train' when we heard we could board a coach within 2 hours of being across the boarder and it took 9 hours instead of 16! As boarder towns go they're all generally a bit strange and Corumba was no exception... The town was dilapidated to say the least, most streets run down with buildings closed and what was open didn't offer much! Last stop in Brazil was in the town of Benito. Little suburban town made famous for the clearest rivers in Brazil. Once again our visit coincided with a Brazilian bank holiday, an Argentinian guy in Rio said they have 17 a year, Brazil can't be far off!
