Arrived in Vang Vieng and was pleased to be greeted with our first room that had the luxury of decent wifi, a big bed and air con, result!!
All the group managed to get into the same guest house as well so that set us up for a good few days.
Main reason for the trip to Vang Vieng was the famous tubing! A full day floating down the river in the rubber inner tubes of lorry tyres, being pulled into bars that line each river bank by guys throwing weighted ropes!
Great experience, each bar had its own unique thing about it with drinking games throughout! Hectic day ended with all the tubing group heading to the local night spot Sakura, to party the rest of the night away...
Few sore heads in the morning was sorted with a big breakfast, a mooch around town and a massage... A quiet(ish) night ended with everyone back in room 3010 for a beer and a listen to the Jam...
Next destination 4000 islands and then into Cambodia. 18 hour over night trip via a sleeper bus, quite an experience itself! Having short legs it actually weren't too bad, not sure the same could be said for Sonny though!
4000 islands was a strange place to say the least! Probably made up of 2/3 inhabited islands and 3997 bushy outcrops.
Pitched up, got a decent room and took a pedal bike around the 2 main islands. The ride would have difficult on a mountain bike, we were sporting women's bikes with baskets on the front!
Visited an amazing waterfall, much of the ride around was through traditional farming communities which was an interesting change to the more tourist orientated North. Covered in mud by the end with the bikes just about making it back!
Finished the day with an all out Indian meal, good food as well!
Another full day bus journey the following day and Cambodia begins!
