Nigel: We arrived in Bangkok for our second visit of the trip. We decided to stay in another part of the city as we couldn't be doing with the hassle of the tuk tuk men and also it gave us a chance to see different sites. The first noticeable thing that we saw was the sign that Christmas was approaching. You didn't see the full extreme of decorations like back home but it was still impressive considering we were in the middle of SE Asia. We thought it would be a great idea to buy presents for our families and send them back home, hopefully in time for Christmas day. It was fun going round the shops barging with the sellers and we managed to get all what we wanted and send them home (and they did arrive in time). We didn't spend a great amount of time in Bangkok, but we thought we would take the train to our next destination. Maybe it will be our last time we take the train. First we had to sit on opposite sides of the carriage, both facing an old Thai couple. (we both had great conversation with them). When we got into our beds and we thought the journey would be a smooth one. It wasn't!! We thought that we were going to fall out of our bunks every time the train rocked.
