Alison: We travelled to Melaka the morning after the leech incident so I was still in a bit of a tender state. Despite feeling completely drained, we managed to drag ourselves out of bed at the crack of dawn to begin the journey to Melaka which would involve 5 different buses and would take us via Kuala Lumpur. Alison: After another enjoyable speed boat ride and a shortish local bus ride, we arrived in Kota Bharu which is a market town in the far north of Malaysia. We were very hot and bothered when we arrived but a much needed KFC soon recharged our batteries and we found a place to stay in a nice hostel recommended in our guide book.
