Seeing as it was our last night bus, we decided to splash out on a luxury cama seat. We were really excited about it, but we were only met with disappointment and broken dreams. The seats were fine but we didn't get dinner, there was no film and the road was so bumpy and windy that it was impossible to sleep. So we arrived in Sao Paulo, grumpy and tired which meant, as a result, we were disorientated. Luckily, a really kind Brazilian saw that we were lost and helped us find our way on the metro. They do that a lot in South America.
We stayed in an area called Vila Madalena, and our hostel was amazing. We had little pods to sleep in with our own light and charger and the staff were soooo friendly. We had a little nap, got some breakfast and set out to see the best of Sao Paulo as we only had one day. First, we went to see the main square and the cathedral, unfortunately though, it tipped it down with rain English style. Ben wasn't prepared for this , so we took the metro to the MASP (an art gallery). They had Lots of European paintings, including works from Monet and Van Gogh. It was nice to walk around, but we were pretty sure we'd seen some of the paintings in other galleries. So we think that maybe some of them are copies. Sneaky!
That night, Ben cooked tortilla (NOT OMELETTE!) and we went to a bar for caprhinas. The caprhinas were so strong and after two, we were both gone. Ben was so drunk, he fell over and dropped baconzitos (a local crisp) all over the floor.
The next morning, we packed up our things and headed for Parati for some more beach time.
