The rumours were true- the Bolivian side of the lake is much prettier. Copacabana is a quaint little town on the edge of the lake with beach and gorgeous views.
With Christina and Martina (2 people we met on our previous tour), we found a hostel and explored the town. We had a nice lunch and an excitable Ben had lemon pie. Late afternoon we hiked a nearby cliff to watch the sunset over the lake. The views were amazing!
The next day we took a boat to a nearby island called the Isla Del Sol. It is where the Incas believed the Sun gave birth to the Inca dynasty. When we arrived, we hiked to the top of the North part of the island where there were many ruins. We kept thinking we were looking at the sea, since the lake is so huge. It reminded us of the Greek islands.
We then caught a boat to the south island, had a drink whilst admiring the view and then boarded the boat back to Cocacabana. First impressions of Bolivia are that the scenery is stunning, however the people aren't as friendly as the Peruvians. They seem to have a much more closed and traditional culture. Next to La Paz, where we start our G adventures tour of Bolivia.
