From La Paz, (we'll tell you about that later as we still have a few days there) we boarded a night bus to Uyuni. Now, as you know, we have been on a fair few night buses, but nothing would have prepared us for this one! 13 hours on un-paved roads! Imagine the feeling when your head rattles on a roller coaster- we had that for 13 hours! We felt like our teeth were about to fall out.

Anyway at 8 am we arrived at our hostel and had 3 hours to recover before we commenced our 3 day tour of the salt flats. At 11, along with 2 Aussies (Kate and David) we were allocated our driver (Panel) and made ourselves comfortable in our 4X4. After a few hours, we arrived in the middle of the salt flats. There was nothing but salt for miles and miles! If you took your sunglasses off it would blind you! This is where we took all of our cool prospective photos, and Sarah got to be tall for once! One guy (the other Aussie called David) got naked, since it was his birthday!

Then we made our way to the salt hotel which we would be staying in. Strangely enough, even though it was 0 degrees outside, it was toasty inside. The next day we had breakfast and set off at 7am as this would be a long day of driving.

We saw: a volcano, lots of flamingoes, lots of vicuñas, geisers and at the end of the day we bathed in a natural hot spring. A drunkard local decided to join us in the hotspring, feel up all the girls and wolf whistle at Ben! Ha! The hot spring was so warm, but little did we know the pain we would have to entail getting out as it was about 2 degrees! Brrrrrrrrrrr! Ben's bits were nowhere to be seen!

We then got back in the 4X4 with Pabel to drive to our hostel. We had to drive ninja style for the last 15 minutes, as the lights on the car decided to break. The hostel was a lot more basic than the first night and with only 2 toilets between 30 peopple ,you can imagine the state of them- especially since quite a few people had bad stomachs!

After very little sleep, we got up the next day for our trip back to Uyuni. At first, we quite enjoyed Pabel's choice of music. However, after around 30 hours of the same Bolivian CD we were all ready to strangle him! After some amazing scenery and lots of laughs, we were ready to see some civilization.
