Chiang Mai in northern Thailand is a city chuck-full of temples... And even being the temple ignorants that we usually are, we just had to visit a couple. That of course means for me: 'polite' clothes aka t-shirt with sleeves and sarong over my shorts. Hot hot hot. The temples are pretty nice though, with the added bonus of a free horoscope station (a little shelf with number compartments in each of which you can find papers with your horoscope. 10.00 a.m., next day We should have arrived two hours ago... some minutes ago, a train employee came through to announce very matter of factly: 'Chian Mai - two hours.' Ok then. Just happy we didn't have our bunks built back into seats yet. Nothing wrong with a little nap on your average 18-hour-train ride, after a most horrible breakfast. Only plus: The toilets are Western style and still surprisingly clean. Man muss die Feste feiern, wie sie fallen... oder ...

21.30 The two brits on the table next to ours are all for it (they have sent their girls to bed after dinner so they can party). Mhm. In spite of the disco ball, we kinda had enough of the train disco and retire back to our bunks soon - we're too old (or not drunk enough?) for that stuff!

21.00 After a rather yummie and cheap 3course dinner on the train, suddenly they turn up the music (it was Boney M during dinner, now it's last summer's dance hits) and bring out the disco ball - and it's 'party time' in the dining car! The waiter (who will later overcharge us on the beer price) stirs the mood by dancing down the aisle. Funky stuff!
