After a restful day for M&C in Uluru, enjoying the the heat and sunshine and the pool, Lisanne arrived on Friday at around lunch time.
Her flights went well, and she even had 3 seats to herself on both the Amsterdam-Dubai leg as well as the Dubai-Sydney leg (we should all be so lucky ....)
She managed to get herself a window seat on the flight from Sydney to Ayers Rock, which meant she saw some beautiful scenery. Everything from green fields to salt flats to red sand dunes.
We were there to meet her at the airport, and it was lovely to see each other again after over 3 years since the last time. We then caught the bus back to the campground where she met Harvey (the motorhome), which will be our home and transport for the next 4 weeks.
Lisanne was feeling remarkably well after her mammoth journey (30 hours), but we decided to have a swim in the very nice swimming pool before heading off the view the sunset on Uluru.
Impressive and totally awesome. Uluru at sunset changes colours, shadows constantly move, and generally it lookes like an enormous red rock in the middle of nowhere. Amazing.
After sunset, we had a lovely meal at the local "square" (Yulara is a self-contained village/resort), before heading back for a "borrel" and some star-gazing. Lisanne says it wasn't "normaal", but we say it is :-)
