A very hot day today - a forecast maximum of 38 degrees celsius - so we started early. An 8.00 am walk at the bottom of Uluru. A guided walk (the Mala walk), with a ranger telling us stories about the rock. It was lovely, Uluru was huge and awe-inspiring. We walked mostly in the shade, so that was nice. Then it was off to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) which lie about 50 km to the west of Uluru. We stopped at a lookout on the way and saw the amazing group of domes ...

After a restful day for M&C in Uluru, enjoying the the heat and sunshine and the pool, Lisanne arrived on Friday at around lunch time. Her flights went well, and she even had 3 seats to herself on both the Amsterdam-Dubai leg as well as the Dubai-Sydney leg (we should all be so lucky ....) She managed to get herself a window seat on the flight from Sydney to Ayers Rock, which meant she saw some beautiful scenery. Everything from green fields to salt flats ...

Well, here we are. At Uluru, waiting for Lisanne. We stayed last night at Kulgera, which is literally in the middle of nowhere, at a very uninspired rest stop/roadhouse, which has a powered campground attached to it. However, the bathroom was clean and it had a POOL. Yes, a swimming pool, so all was wonderful. Back on the road this morning, and an uneventful drive to Uluru, although we did drive over a snake.
