This morning we got up after a good nights sleep, and went for a walk around the beach and up to the Nelson Head Heritage Lighthouse. Beautiful views and an interesting museum. Lisanne saw some more pelicans and kookaburras.
Then back down to Harvey to pack up and head out of town. We didn't get very far however!
The sun was shining so we decided to park Harvey and take one of the many boats in to the bay. It was incredibly beautiful and very picturesque. The captain took us right to the inlet, where the bay meets the ocean, and we saw some dolphins. For about 20 minutes to the boat followed the dolphins around, before we turned around and saw more of the bay. Eventually we got back to shore, just in time for some more rain!
We drove out of Nelson Bay and headed north again, up the Pacific Highway.
Further along the Pacific Highway we saw a sign for a tourist drive, so we thought: why not? The road took us on a very narrow, windy trail, along and through two different national parks. The first was Karuah National Park, which had lots of very tall trees. The second was Myall Lakes National Park. We drove right through this park, on a very windy road, down hills and up again. The part we drove through was sub-tropical rain-forest, with the different level canopies, including palm trees and ferns.
Then we eventually got away from the park, and stopped for a late lunch at Bulahdelah at the local pub. Incredibly cheap, but fantastic food!
After lunch we headed towards Taree, to the supermarket, for a bit of shopping.
Then on to a caravan park, right on the banks of the River Manning. Lisanne and Mirne managed to sit outside and enjoy the view for about half an hour before the mosquitos came out!!!
Now we're about to sit down and enjoy our dinner, then probably an early night for an early departure.
Lisanne saw a Koala today, in one of the many trees along the road, and Mirne and Craig saw a kangaroo.
The weather today was 22 degrees and we only drove 190 km today.
