I love wavers. I LOVE wavers!
You know the people who acknowledge you in some way as you pass each other by? Of course it only happens on country roads, not in towns, but I think its just a real sign of fellowship that as we speed pass in our separate directions we take that half a second to lift a finger (not THAT finger) and say hello to another human being. I especially love the people who take their whole hand off the wheel and wave at you - ahhhhh I feel important.
When we were travelling the single lane road between Thargomindah and Quilpie everyone waved. And I mean everyone. Cars, trucks, vans, road-trains and even motorcyclists. It was great. Of course you only passed someone every 40 minutes or so - not much of an ask I guess. But as you head back East again and the traffic gets a little heavier you start to see who the real wavers are. Lots of people stop waving now and a big call out to all the women out there - we suck! On a normal road when 50% of people wave only 5% are women (and that includes me). What is it with the ladies? Concentrating too hard on driving or just snobby? I haven't worked it out yet.
And now I am out West again and to get to this little town (where the Muttaburrasaurus was found) I was back to single lane road again but unfortunately not to universal waving. What's the difference between now and before? A few degrees hotter? Above the Tropic of Capricorn? Who knows but I am saying HELLOOOOOOO to all you wavers out there and encouraging the rest of you to join our ranks.

Kristy Templer I'm a massive waver! Always have been! Now I want to go exploring too so I can tip the scales back to the wavers side!!! Keep up the blogs, I love to hear about your adventures, I wait in anticipation of your next update!!! Love and kisses to you both, Love Kristy, Michael, and Aurora. xoxo
Karyn WAVERS UNITE!! Yes, played the waving game with Kristy when we travelled and have done the same with JJ and Chantel. They even do it here now. Couldn't work out why all these people were looking at the car and wondered what I was doing wrong or if there was something wrong with the car. Then found out JJ and Chantel were waving and smiling at everyone from the back seat!! You seem to be going to a lot of the same places Robbie and I went and are bringing back memories that have lain dormant for years :) Glad everything is going great. Love and miss you both heaps. Keep up the blogging :) Love Karyn, Robbie, JJ and Chantel xxxx oooo PS: Paulie, they make me do maths to post on your blog :(
Wendy I have always been a waver, also a "good morning" or "Hi" to people I pass on my morning walk. Just been to North Yorkshire and they do it a lot more there. Keep waving and Hi-ing. Did you get my email about writing for magazines? Love to you both Wendy
