So about that boat ride yesterday... We got there just fine, but it was really windy and the Australian flag on the boat broke so it hung on by only one string and it looked like we were pirates who lost a battle. Ok, maybe that was a very optimistic way to think of our trip there, it was actually very smooth compared to what was waiting.

Manly was really nice, I can really see why my lovely cousin liked it there! Sadly, we couldn't go to the beach or anything since the weather was so bad that they actually closed it. Some dedicated surfers were still out and managed to catch some waves, but Filippa and I stayed on a safe distance.

The trip back was a a completely different story, but Filippa doesn't like that I always update and she never gets the chance, so I'll leave that one for her to tell.

Right now we're in Katoomba! Don't you just love the name? I do! We got here yesterday night, and it's really cold here compared to what it was in Sydney only a couple of days ago. From here you're supposed to go out into the Blue Mountains, which are supposed to be beautiful, but with the weather being what it is, not even the fruit pickers has to go to work. It's 16C right now, which may not seem too cold, but when all you have is shorts and the rain is pretty steadily falling, it's not exactly time for a hike. It's supposed to be better tomorrow, so cross your fingers for us! We booked another night at the hostel we're at, but might stay one more just because it's nicer to leave for a new place in the morning rather than hauling your stuff around all day. We're not sure where exactly we are headed next, but we'll stay in the Sydney area until we get our credit cards, so Wednesday if everything works out the way it should.

Katoomba is a really small town that we haven't seen a lot of yet, but you definitely see a big difference here from the big city life in Sydney. People are very different, but I think the people in the hostel are nicer here than they were in Sydney. Everyone kept more to themselves and stayed in their groups, while here it's not too hard to just walk up to someone and start a conversation.

It'll be interesting to see where this trip takes us next, we have to get our tax file number which is something we need in order to work, but the website where you apply has been down for a few days now. But maybe, maybe, today will be the day! Hope so!
