So today we went to Charters Towers which is a town in the middle of nowhere famous for the Australian gold rush A long very straight road out and back! What a fascinating place though and such a lot of history Although quite large it was like an English village in that everyone knew everyone else! Having had lunch in Mission Beach it was back on the road to get to Townsville so we had a chance of visiting Charters Towers. Got to the camp site quite late and oh dear !! the internet was not much good again.. The site is in re-build but is ok and we used the camp kitchen to cook up a good meal to go with a glass of wine, baileys and ginger beer. No wi-fi so bed early to be ready for tomorrow.
