We started our day with a delightful walk on Kings Beach looking for coral in the sunshine :- We collected a few pieces to remind us of our Reef day
Today we had to do some mileage because we need to be in Rockhampton so as to be in Bundaberg the following night to see the turtles :-))))))
The roads here are straight and I mean straight and lots of cane fields and really not much else ....just lots of the same
We decided as it was Sunday to have a long morning driving and then a long stop for lunch and then an even longer afternoon to get this stage sorted
The boys were brilliant and Pat and I got lots of knitting done lol
You will see from the photos that they even put trivia questions on the road signs to keep the drivers alert because there are not even any side roads or houses on the road!
Our lunch has to get a mention as it was the best food we have had so far
You got to choose your meat/ fish from the chiller , or you could have a bucket of wings as much as you could eat , how you would like it prepared , which sauce you would like and whatever potato , salad or veg The building used to be a bank and they had made the vault into a wine cellar so you got to choose your bottle of wine personally and they also had copious amounts of on tap beer and cider :-))) As they prepared all the food to order and that takes a while we had to try a few ...it would be rude not to!
Trev was supplied with a bib and finger bowl with his ribs and he said without exception they were the best ribs he had ever tasted ! I have to say they were the biggest rack of ribs I have ever seen on a plate!
Luckily there are apparently 4 more of them along the way down to Brisbane so I think we may be looking one or two more up lol
We did not arrive at the campsite until 7 30 pm but we all decided that it was worth it as it then rained all night again Some of the roads we had driven today had been totally cut off last week and the water on the sides of them was still quite evident The boys then had chocolate pudding and custard as their reward for such a long day at the wheel but Pat and I just had a nice cup of tea aah!
We were all ready for an early night and the rain on the roof was strangely comforting xxx
