My last post is now pretty old... I can't believe how time has been flying since I arrived in Australia !!
So I'm gonna start with my Cairns stay. Keith and Kim nicely offered me to stay with them for a couple of weeks. Keith was my course director 7 and a half years ago, when I did my Diving Instructor course. So I stayed with them in Brinsmead, a remote place yest fairly close to Cairns.
My decision to go to Cairns relied on different reasons. The main one being I love the place and I wanted to see my friends from 8 years ago. The other reason was that I had to do part of my instructor course again. That's what you get for not paying PADI for 5 years...And that was very convenient for me because I was staying with Keith ! I felt fantastic to be learning how to teach again !
In those 2 weeks I managed to see a few friends again, all from the old days at Down Under Dive. That made me wanna stay in Cairns for good !
I went diving one day and it was so weird being back on Osprey !! As if it was yesterday ! I couldn't believe the entertainer was still working there ! And that the food was still exactly the same as 8 years ago !!
One morning I found an ad on gumtree, from a guy willing to spend some time in Cape Tribulation. From one minute to the other I was in for a 2 day trip there. Matthieu was a french guy and Tatiana, a german girl was also part of the crew. We went swimming in water holes and even in the ocean even though the stinger alert was on. We met some locals who encouraged us to get in the water and it was indeed a fantastic idea. The water was about 32° and because it hadn't rained enough the stingers hadn't been washed off the mangrove.
I also spent a day on the Tablelands. North Queensland is really an amazing area. The nature leaves me speechless everytime. You can find rainforests, beautiful waterfalls and an amazing wildlife. That day on the Tablelands I went to Barron Falls and Kuranda which are only 30 minutes from Cairns. Kuranda is a sort of a hippie village, pretty nice to hang out but still a bit small for me. I kept going and also went to see a majestuous fig tree, you'll see it in my photo album. And I finished my day with a swim in beautiful Lake Tinahoo.
On the next day I spent no less than 8 hours with Saori and Cyril. I used to work with Saori, this crazy japanese friend. She's just fantastic !! She and Cyril (also called Frenchy, like us all) got married last october. When I met them 8 years ago they started dating...I also saw Nat but not for long as she's so popular she's all over the place ! A shame I didn't get to see her a bit longer. The next day I had diner with Neffie. It was great to catch up.I hope she'd come over to Margaret River over NY but apparently she now has other plans.
Soon it was time to go and I had to fly to Perth.
