I arrived in Perth on wednesday 17th in the evening. I spent a night and half a day in Perth before heading to Scarborough. I went to gorgeous King's park for a few hours. I still cannot believe how beautiful thispark is. And the views from it are stunning !
Scarborough is a neighbourhood by the beach. Really pleasant, popular with surfers and kitesurfers. Kitesurfing means wind...and there was a lot of it during the few days of my stay so I only spent a couple of hours at the beach and spent most of my time at the hostel, hanging around with other travellers.
I decided to go to Rottnest Island from there because the hostel manager got me a very interesting offer. I got Patricia, a german girl sharing my dorm, to come with me. We had an amazing time ! We took the ferry at 8am and spent the day on the island cycling around. The cycling bit could be tricky sometimes but it was worth it ! The island is gorgeous ! We went snorkelling twice. The first time there wasn't many fish. We still saw a beautiful nudibranch ! but the second time was better with plenty of fish I had never seen before simply because I had never snorkelled or dive in a 20° water... I didn't go again because I was too cold. The second session just kept me off for the rest of the day.
While cycling around we did encounter quokkas ! These animals are sooooooo cute !!!! It took us some time to keep going because we wanted to stay with them !
We got back to Thomson bay where the ferry was leaving from, around 2pm, had an ice cream, went to the closest beach and it was already time to go back.
On the same evening I was going to Fremantle to stay with Laura and Shane. I met them when I was in the Maldives. I was Laura's sister Caroline diving instructor. Laura and Shane travelled a bit thanks to my influence apparently ! And have now ended up in Australia. They've been here 2 years and will soon know if they can stay longer.
I stayed a couple of nights with them which gave me some time to go christmas shopping in Freo and dive gear hunting. The dive gear bit didn't go as planned but I'm probably gonna be able to get some gear in Singapore.
After half a day christmas shopping in Cairns with Laura, it was time for me to go and take my bus to Narrogin. A 4h30 journey was waiting for me on the bus, plus another 45 minutes drive.
