Day One Hundred Sixty-Two - June 16
Nine ship tours are made available for passengers however we chose to explore on our own.
Two ship tours included historic Santiago de Compostela and hiking the Old St. James Path. These were places that we had visited or hiked earlier in the cruise when we were last in Spain.
An information guide on shore provided us with a map and informed us to follow the red line if we wished to visit the Old Town.
Janice asked about shop hours just in case there was to be some shopping and was told they do not close. Unfortunately, the tourist person was wrong, and the shops did close for siesta.
Following the red paved road along the shoreline brought us to what looked like a mini-Stonehenge. Closer inspection proved it was not the case. A small stone circle looking like the circles in the Lake District was also noted.
We continued along the path until reaching the beach basically on the other side of the city. It is time to find a place to eat at the many appealing restaurants.
Afterwards I made my way back to the ship while Janice visited some optical shops. Just maybe they will have frames she is looking for but no such luck. In case you're wondering, the reason that we have been to so many optical shops is that Janice has a very small face and we were told that we could find some smaller frames in Europe but to date this hasn't been the case.
Janice has so much trouble finding small frames that she usually has to buy kids glasses.
Tomorrow is a sea day as we make our way to Honfleur for the second time.
Adios to Spain.
