Last night wasn't the best sleep I've had. We stayed up late reading, possibly because we were a little unsettled with where we were staying. We could hear people coming and going from the other few rooms inside the metal doors, all foreign voices. It was so hot as well. We do have air con but it's so good you regularly have to switch it off and on to get cooler or warmer.
We got ready to leave about midday today and had bought some of the pot noodle things for lunch (yes, the ones Ben left somewhere!) and had them in the reception/kitchen area. We then got the metro a few stops down the island to go up one of the biggest skyscrapers, the Bank if China. Unfortunately it was closed due to it being Good Friday! We then went on a hunt for the biggest series of escalators in the world, some being 800m long! It was less fun then I imagined though, and a bit of a cheat as they only go uphill. So the further you go up, the further you have to walk back down! I have a fear that I'm going to turn into a person that becomes hard to impress. I've read that this can happen with travelling, and I understand (even only after a few weeks) that there are only so many of the same thing I can stomach, such as temples. And I'm sure many more things will follow suit. So we went to see a temple! For once it was free to get in, so nothing lost. It was only small but had a lot of spiral hanging burning incense, which I've not seen before. We had a look round Soho, down a bar street for potential places to watch United tomorrow and had a McDonalds!! Sorry!!!! But some of the burgers are less than £1 and this is an expensive place! If it saves us money, we might have to do it!
I'm a bit more used to the hostel now. I think it is safe and there is a code into the building as a whole, with a guard by reception 24/7. Plus our steel door! It was unsettling at first but you adjust. We got more pot noodles (obsessed) for tea, along with 4 large bottles of beer (under £2) and some crisps to eat in the lounge bit. We spent a few hours there eating, drinking, catching up on the internet and generally relaxing. I don't mind sitting around to be honest when I can entertain myself. I've also been downloading books onto my iPhone and I've already read 2. Ben has joked that he's gone down the pecking order after food, sleep and now reading as well.
I'm desperate to find an Internet cafe to upload my photos. I have over 500 and I'm starting to worry that I'll run out of room, so I'm hoping to do that tonight.
Tomorrow I think we'll venture over to Hong Kong mainland to have a look around. It'd be nice to do it early to keep away from the humidity at it's worse (it was unbearable today). And we're yet to see the skyline of Hong Kong island, as we are living on the wrong side!
