Tlingit Master Carver Nathan Jackson was at work in the wood shop next to the Totem Park in Saxman. Alan was pleased to be invited into the shop where he chatted with Mr. Jackson and got a look at the totems that were being carved.

A port call today in Ketchikan. We took a cab to the Totem Park in Saxman. The park displays collection of a dozen or so totem poles, many moved to this site.

We disembarked for the port call in Juneau today. Took a taxi into town and found ourselves by the cruise ship dock, pretty touristy. (BTW, the red coated woman in the pic is not part of our group.) Anyway, our taxi driver took us to a fish hatchery (king salmon, silver salmon, chum salmon and dolly vardon). Also stopped at the Mendenhall Glacier and the Alaska Seafood Processing for some smoked salmon.

We are traveling the Alaska Maritime Highway from Whittier to Bellingham, WA on the Kennicott. Our cabin has 4 berths, a bathroom with shower, and a large window looking out to the water. We were ahead of schedule today for our first port, Yakutat, so the captain went into Yakutat Harbor so we see the Hubbell Glacier.
