We stopped here to search for a geocache which Alan found. The mountains along the drive from here to Homer were majestic. Rivers here vary in color. Many of the rivers up to Denali were glacially fed and cloudy, full of silt. We followed a river for a while today that was an amazing blue.

Girdwood, Alaska

Girdwood is a resort community south of Anchorage. We stopped there for breakfast at The Bake Shop, a restaurant that Alan and Nick found on their last trip to the area. Container gardens on the front patio overflowed with huge flowers.

Beluga Point, Alaska

We picked up our car in Anchorage this morning and headed south on Alaska 1 along Turnagain Arm, a 45 mile long waterway that is a branch of Cook Inlet. We've learned that when several cars are stopped on the side of the road, an animal is usually nearby. At Beluga Point, we stopped to watch a beluga whale!

Grace and I found a geocache on the way back from breakfast. This one is a travelbug lodge where people drop trackables to be picked up moved a distance. I dropped "Grace's Lego Guy", and we picked up a couple of travelbugs.
