I had just typed about 3/4's of this blog and my damn computer just switched off so this entry will probably be alot shorter than it should be but oh well
After a long journey from bangkok on a bus where i mangaged to crawl behind the back row of seats and lie down, it was hot as i was on top of the engine but at least i wasnt cramped in the seats, we arrived at about 11 in the morning at the island of ko phangan. We met up with some canadian girls and british guys that we had met on st paddys day and we immediatly hit the beach where my white body and tanned arms really stood out but oh well, after a while of just chilling and lying on the beach 5 of us went on a bannana boat, one the girls had just had a mushroom shake and was hoping it wouldn't kick in till after the ride, i assured her that i was a lifeguard and all was well.
That night we all got some food and headed down to the beach for a party, about 1/3 of the beach was packed mayb 5 or 6 thousand people dancing by the speakers supplied by the bars. The bars however are not the main source of alchohol, but instead the dozens of 'bucket' stands, the buckets are the same beach buckets that you used to use to build sandcastles but once filled with whiskey and coke or vodka and redbull (which is alot stronger than the redbull at home) they become the backpackers drink of choice. All along the beach there are people juggling fire and at some of the bars there are even limbo bars and skipping ropes set on fire, i tried the skipping rope of fire and did quite well mayb 10 or so jumps until the thai guys either end of the rope started to speed up at which point i escaped back into the crowd. However none of my friends had got decent pics so i did it again this time escaping with some slightly singed neck hair but it wasnt fine.
The next day the day of the full moon party the whole island was buzzing with anticipation for the night to come, we all chilled at our guesthouse until about 10 o'clock where the two brits and i decided that there werent enough he-shes in thailand already so we borrowed bikinis and sarongs off of the girls and i wrote the bearded lady on my stomach in glow paint (its a great ice breaker), as well as other glow paint drawings on all of us. Chris and the girls had flourescent pink hand prints on their chests. And so all of us ready we jumped in a tuk tuk and went to the party and it was absolutly crazy thats all i can say about 20-25 thousand people all dancing until about 9 or 10 o'clock the next morning.
Within a week i had gone from the largest religous monument in the world to the largest beach party in the world...........AWSOME
since the full moon there have still been partys but not the same scale, we moved up to the north of the island which is famous for its snorkelling so i've just relaxed recovered and snorkeled which is amazing.
Chris has gone of to ko tao today, another island nearby, im too chilled out here and will b leaving for ko tao tomorrow.
by the way i forgot to mention it in the last blog but we have changed our flights around and are spending an extra month in asia so will probably be back around 20th of june
