Flew to Phuket then got a (very long) ferry to the Island of Ko Phi Phi, one of the ones hit badly by the 2004 Tsunami (not that you'd know now) along with Ko Phi Phi Leh and Phuket. Had a few hours to kill before the ferry which we spent doing a mini off the cuff tour with a few other couples, seeing Kata, Karon and Patong beach as well as a big hill for a good view of the town.
Had another longtail boat trip to our beach upon arrival on Ko Phi Phi. Stayed in a hut on a relatively secluded beach Phak Nam where we were greeted by the biggest spider ever in the bathroom. Only had electricity between 6pm and 4pm though which was a b*****. Rather teeming with wildlife! Lovely (sand crab filled lol) beach though.
Spent the evening chatting on our balcony with a few beers listening to the waves on the beach below.
10/09 - Next day we left for an 8am (!!) excursion to the nearby Island of Ko Phi Phi Leh where we snorkelled with hundreds of fish right in front of our faces. Really stunning Island - the best out of all we visited. Stopped on Maya Bay which was the setting for the film 'The Beach' before the last stop which was Monkey Beach which was filled with yup you guessed it... monkeys!
Got back to the resort and sunbathed. Attempted to walk to the town through the jungle... managed about 5 minutes before very angry monkeys chased us out, so we gave up and had a nap instead!
11/09 - Got up mega early to see the sunrise on the beach before making our way back to Phuket...
