We got up and got in our car which is Kia Rio which is an automatic car which we collected last night, after a spell of harsh braking by Charlene, she eventually got used to the car and we were off to Kuranda, a colourful and tropical town stationed deep inside the mountains. Once we arrived, we had a look around the market and it felt as we were whisked into Fiji, the market had a strong hippy influence on it with many stalls selling handmade handicrafts and wholesome home-cooked food.
We also found a coconut stall and a beehive stall. Eventually we saw an airplane which served for more than 40 years but now lay inside the jungle in ruins which were eerie. It were donated by some large corporation who owned the airplane.
We then got in the car and headed further south into Atheron with a quick lunch of handmade sandwiches on the route. I saw several road kill kangaroos which is weird in the contrast in England, the animals being either a rabbit or a hedgerow. Atheron is a sleepy town famous for its crystal cave which is home of the emperor of Uruguay (Google it) We didn't get to see it because the exhibit were too expensive to get in but we had a browse in the gift shop which had loads of cool crystal-related gifts such as chocolates that looked like crystals which I used to play a prank on others by pretending to eat the crystals to the horrified reaction of the others!
We spent a hour staring at the rotating exhibit of amethyst crystals which is carved from Uruguay, there were various sizes and shapes with different prices which you can pick a crystal up and examine it before deciding either to buy it or put it back. A lovely crystal expert helped us to buy some. Generally that hour were spent just simply staring at the mesmerising exhibit which had a hypnotising effect on us.
Eventually we dragged ourselves out of the shop and headed for Curtain Fig Tree. The clue is in the title because a fig seed were impregnated in the middle of the tree and it went on to sprout several branches downwards, covering the original tree. The weight were too much for the original tree so it fell on the neighbouring tree and the both of the trees rot away leaving the new tree with its branches dangling downwards creating the curtain effect. Basically, it is an excellent hiding place for me to hide during Sara or Elon's hormonal phase!
We then visited a waterfall which we thought were used in an advert for a famous shampoo but it turned out we visited the wrong waterfall but however we still took photos and we even spotted a wombat up high inside the trees and there were a family who brought their telescope and kindly let us had a look.
We then returned home but not before enduring a torrid route that involve the endless series of sharp hairpins that last for about 15-20 minutes which almost cause us to lose our lunches. It beat any rides for the sheer havoc it caused inside our stomach in Alton Towers hands down!

Judy I love your style of writing Ash. I can truly visualise Kuranda and Atheron in my mind's eye and it sounds captivating, even though the journey was perilous. Pass on my regards to Charlene for getting you all to and from your journey in one piece. Be good, be safe, be nice to oneanother and unless you have a personal death wish, never ever cross a hormonal female!! Love Mum.xx
