A Taste of Asia
Decided to start a blog as I have a pretty bad memory so it would be good to remember a few things. There might even at least 1 person who will read it!
After 3 flights and no sleep for 36 hours, we finally got to Siem Reap. Got scammed as soon as we got out the airport, being over charged for a taxi! Decided to check into a nice hotel to catch up on sleep and ease ourselves in. Spent the next day exploring the Temples of Angkor - site of the worlds largest religious building, dozens of temples and the abandoned city that was the religious, political and social centre of the Khmer empire. Pretty impressive. Tomb Raider was filmed there too. Got scammed again. Gave a little boy $10 dollars as he explained how desperate his school was. Thought I'd done a good deed until I saw him run over to his dad and hand over the money. From what I've read and heard, the Cambodians are infamous at scams, very nice people though! Spent the evenings exploring the town and all the bars, shops and markets. Love Pub Street and the $0.50 beer that is literally cheaper than water. Loving the food, it's basically rice with fried veg and and meat, tastes so good though. Waiting to catch a night bus to Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. The reviews of the bus company were bad, so it could be interesting. Loved Siem Reap!- comments
