So we left for Phi Phi Don and it was just as beautiful as we had heard. We had bright sunshine which was a bonus so the days were spent on the beach and evenings in the bars!!! We decided to do another snorkelling trip here to see the numerous islands surrounding Phi Phi and also to visit Maya Bay; the place where the beach was filmed. The snorkelling was beautiful and the water was so clear and this time we opted for a traditional long tail boat. We saw the island with all the monkeys, really wierd to see them all there trying to steal food off you, i was a bit weary of them as they bite and have rabies!! nice! Went to see where 'The Beach' was filmed and it was amazing. This time no whale shark but the trip was just as good. Our accomodation was very basic and cheap, our double room was only 300 Baht, which is about £4 between us!! although the room did have an ant problem, bites everywhere!!! Many nights we visited a bar called reggae reggae bar which had a Muay Thai ring in the centre and anyone could take up the challenge of a muay thai fight for a free bucket!! None of us decided to do it, but many a drunk night was spent watching other drunk people fighting in there!! Very entertaining. One late afternoon we had a long walk up to the viewpoint, which really hurt but was well worth it once you had got up there. the view was beautiful and once you had got up there you could see all the devastating pics of the Tsunami, it was so wierd to see it in those pictures and then now with it being all built up again! Sadly we had to leave paradise at some point and head to Phuket which was misserable. So sad to go from bright blue sunshine to rain!!! Phuket wasnt one of the nicest places we have been, it was very touristy and it almost felt like you were in Magaluf!!! the food wasnt that great and it was more expensive than the other places we had been. so it was a shame to end Thailand there, but we made the most of it and did our last minute shopping. Phuket was where we said goodbye to our fellow traveller Chris and also our 2 other friends who we had been travelling with for a while Jess and Craig. Was sad to see them all go esp Chris, we had been with him for 2 months! BUt we have some good memories and the pics to show it!! So it was back to just the 2 travellors again. We had a flight out of Phuket to Bangkok on the Wed 1st and a flight out of Bangkok to Dubai on the Thurs night. We made a decision not to go back into Khoa San and to stay in a hotel near the airport, one that we had stayed in before. No need to go back to Khao San as we had spent 12 days there before waiting for Chris. That is more than enough time there!!! Thailand had been amazing, so sad to leave but also excited for the next destination on our list; Dubai. South East Asia was an experience and one we will never forget. It was really cool to have someone else with us for the 2 months it is always good to travel with extra people.
