Hey Guys!! So, we have been only been away from England since 10pm yesterday and already there has been some (slight) dramas.
Our flight went relitevely well, the plane was very nice indeed, and me and ash had four seats between us. then this Austrailian snob came and sat with us because some wingey kid was sat by him. I was fuming as i was wanting to stretch out and sleep, so i spent the whole trip 'accidently' making foot contact with him (my foot to his body) in the hope that he would get annoyed and move away. it didnt. When he put his eye sleepies on, i put my foot next to his nose in the hope that he would wonder what the smell was and hopefully move, once again this strategy failed!
So, we got into Bangkok one hour behind scheduele, the airport was nice, but full of perverts. One guy (not a pervert) tried to make us say we would stay in his hotel, for over 1000 bahts, i told him we wanted to check out what was available first, he told us he had called all the hotels in Bangkok and they were full up, ash almost fell for it, but luckily being the experienced traveller i am, i knew he was conning us.We decided we would get the bus to the city centre so we could see the sights, this cost us 150 bahts (we are still pretty rubbish at working out how much things are but we think that was approx 2.20 pound?? the journey took approx 40 mins and we spent the time looking at sights and the brouchers we had. Ash was embarrassed that i was waving at passers by, but alot waved back, they seemed friendly but very miserable. I wondered whether this was because they are a generally ugly nation?
We evenentually hit the famous Khoa San Road, it is amazing, full of shops, food places, pubs, clubs and thai culture at its greatest. There are a dew beggars, one in particular with half a body on the floor squiriming around with crutches is quite disturbing. We found the hotel Lizzy had recommended, and got our room for 850 bhats (approx 6 pounds each). We have a big double bed, a tv and a small balacony. it overlooks the main road so it is very noisy but in a good way. The guy carried our backpacks upstaires for us, then stood around, we didnt click on for a minute (similar to the home alone scene), so we gave him 50 bhats (better than a chewing gum hey?). We quickly settled in, put on some cool clothes (ash hasnt got the offensive shorts out yet, i think they will make an appearance tomorrow?). We explored the hotel, it really is very nice, with a swimming pool on the roof terrace which u can see out through the whole city, and massage rooms etc next to it. We left the hotel to go looking about when a thai guy approached us asking whether we wanted to see a 'p**** smoking a cigerette' or a 'p**** writing a letter', well i guess we are here to experience all the thai ways so we thought why not?? we havent intended to stay in Bangkok too long so we thought we may as well make the most out of being here. We asked how much it was to see this sex show to which he replied 20 bhat ( approx 35p) how cheap i thought, poor girls being made to do this for the same price as a chomp and pack of space raiders. So we started walking thinking it was around the corner, he told us to get on the back of his tuk tuk. (for those who dont know, this is a really common mode of transport here, it is similar to a motobike with 2 seats at the back). We got on and couldnt believe how fast he went, weaving in and out of the cars, it was scary man. Ashh was pale but we soon got into the swing and started to enjoy it, We are going to use them all the time here now. WE got to the brothel (there is no other way to describe the place) and was quite cautious as it looked like a seedy rented out taxi rank but with a few annorexic looking thai girls walking about. i got my 20 bhat out to which the guy got his calulator out and showed me 2000 bhat! errrmmm no thanks mate i said, im sure he just made a price up!! we tried to haggle, but he wasnt reducing the price to 30p, no matter how much we tried. So back on the tuktuk we got, and the stupid guy tried to take us to another, ash wondered whether he looks like a pervert? i told him he didnt but im questioning it myself now ha! then after telling the next brothel we didnt want to go (this time down an alley, once again very dodgy looking, and we were even told we could go in for cheap if 'we only looked, no talking', i mean because i was intending to touch werent we, ash said they must of known that i talk alot and couldnt be bothered with me wittering on, spoil sports.) So we demanded to our tuk tuk chaffeur to take us back to Khoa sam rd, he seemd cross as he was driving even faster, breaking even later, and not very jolly. We paid him 20 bhat each for both ways (35p), bargain considering we must of covered the whole of Bangkok looking for a smoking p**** (sorry parents, but this is how is was phrased to us). Back at the road we went for a walk, lots of men approached ash asking if he wants a tailored suit made, they must think he looks like a business man (pimp?). We had some dinner from this restaurant, it was really good, then went and had some Thai massages. They were really relaxing but were quite painful at times!! They cost about 3 pound, quite cheap really as the washed our feet, massaged us for half an hour and made us tea afterwards! anyway, must dash as this place is closing soon (its 11.10pm)!
