Our last day in Auckland was spent at the museum, a definate must do for those visiting in the future, we just wish we had more time to see it all. The museum tells the story of New Zealand people, the flora and the fauna and landforms of the islands. We only had time to see the Pacific People and Natural History galleries which gave us a really interesting insight into the Mairo culture as well as the environment, from mountain tops, volcanoes to the bottom of the sea. We particuarly enjoyed the volcanoes section were we sat in a simulator which gave you an insight into what would happen if a volcano erupted today. It certainly made us think twice about living in Auckland!
Our afternoon was topped off with a drive to Mission Bay where we enjoyed a burger and a stroll along the seafront. We then headed back to Shelbys place to get ready for her birthday celebrations. We really enjoyed our stay with Shelby, meeting her sister Jo and celebrating her birthday with her. The perfect way to spend our last night in Auckland. Jo had kindly donated a lovely dress and heels for me to wear so I didnt look too much like a traveller. Once changed, off we went into the city to meet Shelby and her friends. Happy hour 5-9pm, $5 beer and wine, what more could you want! We had a really fun night, meeting lots of new and interesting people and enjoying a drink or two.
As we dropped the car off, both Ash and I felt sad to be leaving New Zealand. Another country explored, more lessons learnt, more amazing memories made. Although we have always felt this way when catching our next flight to the next country, this time felt differerent. Our flight to South America would be the last before our flight back to London. We dont want this to end! Two months left to see some more different countries, meet new people, experience new things. Ah its not so bad after all.
