After a long few days of driving and site seeing we decided to head to Raglan, the surfers town on the west coast, just south of Auckland. Here we stayed two nights and enjoyed lounging around in the hammocks and strolling around the town. I even got to try out some of New Zelands famous green lip mussels which were delicious! Whilst we were in Raglan the weather decided to take a turn for the worst and so we didnt get to make the most of the free kayaks that the hostel had to offer. We did take a drive in the car to visit the nearby beaches including whale beach though and enjoyed just lounging around.

On the 4th February we headed to Auckland, Pete and Julies last destination until flying back to the UK. Thankfully the weather improved for their last few days and we enjoyed their last day seeing the sights of Auckland. After looking in the shops on Aucklands Queen Street we caught the ferry to Devonport, a relaxing ride across the harbour. We then climbed Mt Victoria and chilled for a few hours, reminiscing about all we had done in the past 3 weeks and taking in the view. The mount gives fantastic views over Auckland city, north shore and the gulf and the weather made the afternoon even more enjoyable. Ash and I then decided to treat Pete and Julie to an asian dinner in one of the local food courts. We managed to cram as many specialities on the table as possible including the famous thai dish pad thai. Yummy! The evening was topped off with nothing other than New Zealands hokey pokey ice cream back at the hostel. The perfect ending.

The 6th of February had finally arrived and it was time to take Pete and Julie to the airport. It still didnt seem like they were leaving but instead we were just driving to our next destination! After a teary farewell we returned to our next hostel and chilled for the afternoon, reminiscing again about all we had experienced together. Thank you Pete and Julie for a great three weeks of laughter, beautiful scenery, card games, long car journeys, glow worms, Pete funny childhood stories and good times. Fantastic memories I hope we all never forget.
