Hi people!
So right now im in Kophanang, and the full moon party is tonight whoo! But let me tell you about my journey here from Singapore and what ive been up to:)
The plan was to stay in Singapore for a few nights and head to KL where i would meet Rick for a couple of days.. but this is what happens- (nothing ever goes to plan does it!) When i got the MRT train from the airport in to the city, an asian girl was sat next to me called Pom, so being in S.E Asia, i was surprised when she broke out with a full on geordy accent! Anyway she had no plans either and was on her way home at the end of her trip and on her own, so we saw the sights in Singapore together along with Vicky who was staying in Pom's hostel. Singapore was one of the nicest citys i ahve been to and really clean, but its reallllly westerised and it costs to do things there. I stayed there for 3 nights and then got the train to Kuala Lumpur where i met Sophie and Lucy from Surrey. They were new travelers so i felt really experienced and laid back, and it also made me think back at when I first set off and how different things are when you get in to the hang of traveling!
It was awful weather in KL and i didnt really want to spend my time there. A guy in my hostel told me he had just been to the Perhintian Islands off the east coast of Malaysia and said it was a great place to meet people heading to Kophanang. Sophie and Lucy decided to join me when i told them i was going there, so we booked a coach overnight for the next day. The girls helped me out quite abit really because they new i was at the end of my trip and low on cash so they would usually pay the bulk of stuff! The weather wasnt the best there either..but who cares when you're on a white sandy beach with clear warm water. On the first day we got straight in the sea after our long trip, and a guy called Jake swam over to us for a chat. He was out in Asia for a couple of weeks to see his girlfriend Helen, who was traveling with 2 of her mates - Rosie and Shereene. They were all from London (i seem to be the only Northerner out here!). I spent most of my time with Soph n Lucy, and we went snorkeling. It was my first time and i loved it! Its like another world under there, and i saw plenty of Nemo's!
Jake and the other girls were heading to the full moon party, along with some more people - Mark, Ollie, and James (more southerners) lol. So i met them on evenings to get to know them all and planned to all go together. Sophie and Lucy left after 3 days and I was left with my new family of 8 :)
It was a good number of people, because we could fill a mini bus and not have to wait for it to get full before we set off, or if need be, 2 taxi's would just do so it was all even when it came to paying for stuff. We had a long journey to get Kophanang - It was a boat trip from the island to Kuala Besut, taxi to the bus station, a bus over night to Pennang on the west coast, another bus to the border, a mini bus to Hat Yai, one more bus to Surat Thani, and the boat to the Island! All in all with waiting around it was well over 30 hours! But we glad there was alot of us as it made the journey more fun. Helen, Rosie and Shereene had all been to the full moon party last month so knew how to get about teh place which made things easier.
We decided to stay away from the full moon beach somewhere quiet. Its quite nice and has normal toilets and a pool, plus its on the beach. We havent done much apart from party hard! Our days go as follow - wake up, eat, sit around the pool, get ready to go out from about 9pm, go out to eat again, and then get buckets of vodka redbull and dance all night!
Its been so much fun hanging round with these guys and probably the best part of my trip so far (especially the pool party 2 nights ago! - This is the best night out ive ever had!) Apart from getting pushed in the pool with my camara in my pocket:( waiting for that to dry out right now! lol Pictures are safe atleast so i might just get a disposable if mine doesn't work again!
So if i survive the full moon party tonight, the next stop will be Bangkok in a few days after recovering lol x
