Right then. First of all don't ever spend 27 hours on a coach. We booked our coach to Cairns not knowing how long it would take. We thought it would be a challenge and a laugh but we later found out that it just messes up your sleeping pattern to the max and pisses you off.
So we arrived in Cairns at about 7pm and went to find somewhere to stay. We found this one place that had a kingsize bed available. We thought that should be ok for the three of us, considering that everywhere else was booked up. So we got ourselves settled in to the less than impressive hostel and went for a wander. We ended up sitting on the harbour front and taking in the sights. We went for a walk to see all the million dollar boats, and began to dream of one day owning one lol.
We got back to the room and were ready for a proper nights sleep. Not gonna happen with three in a bed. It got to the point when ben got out of bed and slept on the really really hard tiled floor. bloody well annoying! Anyway we got up bright and early to find somewhere better, and we ended up just a few doors down in a four share room. We met this guy from london who we chilled with a couple of times and drunk him under the table lol.
We also caught up with a couple of girls we met in sydney and who we kept bumping into all up the coast, so we decided to join forces and hit the nightlife. We went to this place called Rhino Bar, which was an alright place but the DJ was a bit rubbish. Kept playing like R&B then Queen then trance then some other burger tunes. Was a laugh though cause we got pretty pissed :)
After a couple of days we came to the conclusion that we just wanted to get to singapore asap, so we rang qantas to change our flights. They are proper s*** at doing this and messed us about god knows how many times. This pissed us off to the max and the whole atmosphere totally dropped, so we sulked a bit lol. We finally managed to sort it out, although we would have to spend the night in Darwin instead of getting a connecting flight. So we said our goodbyes and headed to the airport to fly to Darwin.
When we arrived we realised it wouldn't be a possibility to sleep in the airport so we found ourselves the cheapest motel and pitched our tents there for the night. We explored a bit the next day but we didn't find it too interesting, mainly because our sights were set for singapore and everything else didn't really matter. The time came for us to get on our plane and leave Australia, where we have had one of the best 5-6 weeks ever. It was a truly amazing experience and we have made so many friends and come away smiling. Memories forever x
