The next leg of our QLD tour saw us packing up and heading for Gympie.Art and Janette (James' parents) had just travelled the Bruce Highway from Mackay a few days earlier, and mentioned there were plenty of road works between Maryborough and Gympie. With this in mind we opted for the back route into Gympie from Maryborough which takes you past some very nice areas including Poona, Boonoroo and close to Tin Can Bay. My parents live on this side of Gympie and we made it just in time for lunch. Our digs for this Reunion of sorts was supplied by our good friends Sam aka"Wilbur"& Tracey. Sam's latest round of earthworks made the perfect one site caravan park right outside his shed. In the short time we spent in "the Gymp"( between bouts of Olympic grade alcohol swilling and yarning the sort of s*** that would leave "Kochie" breathless) we enjoyed a morning at the South Side markets, visited some friends and saw firsthand the damage that comes after extreme flooding in Gympie. It has been a few years since Kylz and I had experienced a flood in town and it does not get any easier to see, (let alone be!) the poor shop owners that loose money and business in these extreme events. Back at camp Chels & Charli had become good friends with Wilbur & Tracey's girls, Tilly & Emily, and said that they would miss them while they were travelling, and have wondered a few times what they where up to since we have left.We decided on a trip out to the Kylz oldies place at Imbil. Not much changes in a hurry out Imbil way but it was good to see the land looking good even if the roads have had a punishing. The town looked good and even busy as it often caters to day trippers from the coast chasing some rural relaxation. After spending 3 nights at Sam and Tracey's Fraser Road B & B we had decided to pack up and head to the coast. Just like to say a big thanks to Wilbur & Tracey for having us, it was great to catch up. (Even if my liver has taken out an AVO against me?! and Kylz has rang "Bundy" to check stocks for the coming year in all states and territories) See you at the Finke!
