It was not long, only 77km before we were ready to set up the van again, pulling into Coolum Beach Caravan Park. What a great spot, ideally located right on the patrolled Coolum Beach and only walking distance to the Surf club and Bowling club, and a selection of other restaurants and shops. This park has great amenities, definitely a place to go if you have not been before, they also have cabins. (If camping is not your thing!?)
We contacted some friends, now living in the Coolum area, Heath and Jane, about Australia Day celebrations. What a better way than heading to Mooloolaba beach having sausage on bread and a few beers with some friends; it was an Mt Isa reunion of sorts, with fellow Isa refugees Nicole and Danny also now living in the area. After a few hours we headed back to the van to freshen up, than on down to the park next to the van park where we were staying. There was live music, what one might call a side show alley and fireworks at 7:30pm. It was a good day had by all. The next day we were off to Australia Zoo, Home of the Crocodile Hunter.
