The drive from Wallabadah to the Hunter Valley was enthralling. We came over the ranges down through Musswellbrook and Singleton to Broke, a small town on the western side of the main Hunter Valley region. The campsite was a free one in a very large park area. We camped here for 3 days while we toured the Pokolbin, Cessnock and Broke area visiting several wineries, had morning tea at the Hunter Valley Gardens and also Drayton's winery and we sampled beer at the Matilda Bay brewery. To the west of Broke is another beautiful wine growing area called Fordwich. We came across a cave with aboriginal art.
After we left Broke we travelled back into the country area on our way to Dubbo. We free camped at Cassilis Bowling Club. The town has only 40 people who still live here but the bowling club, even though the greens are beyond being available for bowlers, opens the bar every eveing from 5 - 7. We stayed here for 2 days and spoke with other vanners about free camps and modifications to vans and motor homes all over a few beers.
The trip continues to be amazing and our next stop is Dubbo. Check out the other photos we took in the Hunter.
