All very straight forward leaving Auckland this morning , breakfast , a short walk to ferry and a pick up in CBD by super shuttle that we ordered and paid for online, half the price of a taxi, more comfortable and a video screen with the daily news and eta of the trip. Dropped off immediately in front of Fiji airlines check in desk and even though we were over weight no charge but I could tell she wasn’t impressed with Andrew’s rucksack.
Uneventful flight of three hours to Nadi, along with some of the Fijian Commonwealth games team. A musical welcome in the arrivals and then a wait for our hotel pick up of sometime, our first introduction to Fiji time. As it was only a overnight before getting on the boat I chose a modest hotel. We had to pay a deposit for the air con control!? There were gecko s walking up the wall of the reception and we were taken to our garden bungalow only to be told that the power was out, reception had a generator. The room was in darkness and incredibly hot, so no alternative leave the bags and find the bar, the power came back on and after a bbq and air con working, things felt better. Although some interesting green stuff came out of the taps when first run!
We left the following morning having repacked bags and left one in storage and checked in at the marina.
