Travelled to Luang Prabang via bus - BIG MISTAKE!!!!
What was meant to take 11 hours turned in to 14 with a tyre blow out and a girl being sick! Worst journey ever. We arrived around 1.15am and all the guest houses were shut, Luckily we managed to find a hotel that was open and booked straight in (paying way over our budget) and went straight to sleep.
The next morning we found a nice little guest house by the night market and headed out to explore. We went to a waterfall, which was amazing. Antonio decided to climb up to the top and see the thousands of butterflies he read about. however, after about 45 minutes he returned sweating and covered in mud, with not one butterfly seen on route, falling most of the way back down on his bum! He was not a happy chappy...turns out this could be the wrong waterfall as when we booked the trip and asked, Angie's impression of a butterfly seemed to just confuse the man behind the counter. lol.
The next day we spent the morning looking at temples and the old palace but the fierce heat meant we couldnt do this for too long and we gave up before climbing Phu Si. In the afternoon we headed to another waterfall with elephants. We had an elephant that we rode and bathed and we decided to call her Nelly the Elephant. Antonio decided to play Rambo and climbed up the waterfall rocks before jumping into the pool below. (the steps seemed too much of an easy option lol). We spent our last evening in Luang Prabang eatin at the food stalls and a really unique bar called Utopia. We left earlier than planned as Angie needed to go to the toilet and the one at the bar said ''Use shoes... Beware of Snakes''.
