Having earnt some points on the man days it was my turn to pick, so I choose Disney. I have been lucky enough to go to Florida and Paris Disney but one can never have enough Disney.
The train from our hotel was relatively quick, getting us there in about 30 minutes. I was very excited as the train pulled in to the station I could already see the castle. Now one thing I should mention is Ant doesn't particularly like rides although he has not been on many, so he was willing to try them out.
I started us off gently with Pirates of the Caribbean, a short boat ride though the scenes of the film. Cleverly using robots for characters, there was even one to look like Johnny Depp! From here we went to the Western shooting range to try and win a mickey badge, but we unfortunately failed at that. Then a stroll round the Swiss family treehouse as I always like that one, plus no queue!
Now it was time for Splash mountain, a boat ride that drops down some steep slopes; very similar to Thorpe Parks log flume ride. We joined the queue which was mostly hidden inside the 'mountain', deceiving us on the amount of time for the ride. We used the time in the queue to catch up on writing up the blog using our phones, an hour and a half later we reached the start. The ride began with a small incline before a small drop, which Ant did not enjoy. The inclines and drops then began to get bigger and bigger ending with a large steep drop in to darkness...ride over. I loved it and I can say Ant is unlikely to come on that ride with me again. We did however buy the photo to prove he went on and survived it.
We continued on to toon town for lunch, where we purchased a pizza. Not just any pizza a mickey pizza, with black dough in the shape of mickey! That much food colouring can not be good!
After lunch we went on a simpler ride called Roger rabbits car toon spin, where you go round a track and spin the car. Ant thoroughly enjoyed this ride and didn't feel his life was in danger like the last experience. There had been a ridiculous queue again though so we decided to skip some rides and make our way to Buzz Light year's Astro Blaster.
We joined a 2 hour queue, but I have to say this ride was awesome. Two people in a car and you both had lasers to shoot the targets. I scored 38,200 and Ant scored 18,500; pretty sure I hit Emperor Zurg! The ride ended far to quickly but it was in good time to go select our seats (pavement) to watch the Dreamlights parade.
I can't remember if this was how it worked in Florida but for the night time light show, everyone remained seated. Meaning everyone could see and enjoy the show without pushing and shoving. The floats were amazing but we were surprised by Mickey, he was talking so quickly we though he was on drugs or maybe he was speaking Japanese! It was strange that some characters spoke English and others Japanese, Disney must have gotten lazy with some releases in foreign languages.
Overall an amazing day and it was interesting to see another kind of Disney. In Tokyo it seems everyone dresses in Disney clothes and has to wear inappropriate large Disney character hats at all times in the park. Just wish I bought that Goofy hat I insisted on having when I was 7, I knew it would come in handy one day!!

Deborah Clements Think Mickey should only speak American/English - must seem really strange hearing him talking in any other language! Sympathise with Ant over Splash Mountain! x
