Today unfortunately marks our last day at the Yangshuo mountain retreat. A blissful country side resort bursting with charm. Words cannot justify how grateful I am to this little place which has certainly changed my outlook on China, its people and its beauty.
We rose once again to an excellent breakfast and sat by the river preparing ourselves for another very hot day. The rain only served to fuel the humidity in the air and we were informed by the weather board it was too hit 40 degrees. Certainly too hot for two English Albinos.
At 11.30 we were met by Zeng Song, where we participated in a one to one Chinese calligraphy class. Needless to say we were not great despite the staff mistaking the artists work for mine and telling me how talented I was! You can view Zeng's blog at http://blog.163.com/song660410@126
Trekking into Yangshuo town again we browsed the various wares on offer, I managed to pick up a "genuine" thenorthface bag for around 200RMB. My gifts were fast overfilling my small 20L bag and my new shiny 40L will replace this for the rest of the trip. Yangshuo town is a tourists dream full of souvenirs and nic nacs to buy (imagine Blackpool, but cleaner a lot less northern and gravy isn't classed as a a food group) it also has some great restaurants. Today we went to the "Rock and Grill" and found by recommendation the best burger I have tasted out of the UK.
Both Laura and I are getting ready for an early night, packing every few days is one of the downsides of travelling. Especially when one of us who shall not be named enjoys unpacking and nesting her items in various places spanning the room!!
Our next stop in the Reed flute caves before our flight to Chengdu.

Deborah Clements It must be difficult coping with the heat and the humidity. It all sound very different and interesting at the same time. The mountain retreat sounds idillic. Enjoy the next stage - nearly panda time! x
