After a good sleep in our sweeeet (suite) room, we headed off to walk the 'strip' in Vegas and enjoy the heights of opulence, consumerism and people watch! We walked through the Luxor hotel (pyramid shaped), saw the sphinx, continued through several classy hotels until we reached the Bellagio hotel. An amazing place. From the daily water fountain shows set to music outside in the 'pool' (more like a small ocean) to an atrium area with an amazing Xmas display,...

Light is just coming in at 7am as Addy and I leave the kids sleeping to see the sun rise over the South Rim of the Grand Canyon where the edge is only 20ft from our hotel room! We walk along the trail along the edge for 2 hours with a layer of snow over the ground (icy in parts) all around us and a light icing sugar dusting on parts of the rock formations below. Time to hit the road... We hire a car and head East and keep going.... A late start and we leave Anaheim driving along countless great divided freeways (so unlike Australian driving conditions!). Dry hilly country with a few snow capped peaks in the distance. Kids are electronically amused (Nintendos, Itouch, Kindle readers) still it is better than "I spy" on an open road...!
