Day 36- Good Flight and touched down in a COLD alice springs early in the morning. Straight to the hostel for some catch up sleep in our newley aquired caravan for 2, different but good. Woke up a bit later than planned and D decided she was up for making an appearance tonight, after watching the eurovision song contest for an hour.Headed out to watch Indiana jones with a canadian girl and German guy who we'd just met. A bit pricyy to what we were used to but D was mnaking a comeback.
Day 37- "im coming to town" Up early and we headed to town to find out about the tours and to change our hostel as it was a bit dead, grabbed some food supplies and made lunch. Nothing much to do in Alice at night so cinema and early night again.
Day 38- Up early and headed over to our new hostel, (life at last) in a nice 8 person dorm with en suite shower!!!!! Good kitchen and TV room with plasma, pool jackpot!!!!!! Headedd into town for our dijareedoo lesson, which was one of the funniest things we've done to date!! Neither of us could get a tune going whilst the spit was dripping onto the plates that we were given....nice!! I cooked up some spag bol for dinner, delicious and even washed up!! Chilled day at the hostel with a few other people.
Day 39- After a night where I thought D was about to kill these 3 germans for making too much noice when they left for there trip we went and sorted out a few things for cairns. Took it easy today as we got a couple of big nights infront of us.
Day 40- Up nice and early for the day tour of ayrs rock. Drivers for the day were Scotty and Tic quality guys who had many a joke and some rehearsed routines! After 5 hours on the bus we arrived at our first stop on the park (forgot the names soz) Basically for massive red rocks in he dessert, never seen anything like it it was crazy. Off to the toilets and some info on its aboriganal importance. Off to what we came to see...ayrs rock!! Arrived and we were blown away this Rock is huge!! We didn't climb it but went on a brief history tour of how it came to be, all the aboriginy stories about the rock, really interesting and tic can tell a good story. Off to the BBQ area where we had some good sausages and got into place to watch the sun set. As the sun got lower the rock seemed to of change colour, excellent experience, packed up and headed home. On the way back looked out the windows and realized there was nothing around at all and the stars where piercing through the night sky and just seemed to illuminate, never seen the stars like that before.
Day 41- After an excellent day yesterday we followed it by going to this local ranch ( the size of 2 small european country's) and quad biking!! With D feeling.....aprahensive about the whole thing we set off on the quads with our 2 guides John and frosty!! D got the hang of it quick and was soon covered in dust and up n down on them bumpy mud roads... After seeing alot of the farm for 3 hours we headed back...D at the front where she saw 3 BIG RED kangaroos which was the cherry ontop of the best thing we've done in OZ so far!! Cairns tomoz
