Day 109-119
Ok so here is a summery of Auckland as it now seems like one massive blur! Decided as we were becoming low on money that we would try and find a job for a month or so in Auckland to fund the remainder of our travels. Arrived ready with our working visas but do you think that we could find a single ok paided job?? Literally looked for a week sending CV´s off to everywhere but nothing. Went along to one interview for telesales but turned out to be door to door sales and commision only so gave that one a miss. Got turned down for a sales assistant in a clothes shop as they wanted some-one long term for a career...AS A SALES ASSISTANT! Anyways bit of a disapointment but decided to just carry on with the money that we had left and just see how far we got with it!
So basically our Auckland two week stay turned into us spending most of our time visiting the bar below our Base hostel called the Globe bar. They had something going on everynight, whether it was free (dominos) pizza or a free $1000 bar tab, which was pretty cool. Seriously ate way too much pizza while we were there! And probably drank a bit too much some nights as well. Made friends with the promortions guy Thomas, and the bar staff who seemed to give out free drinks as they pleased (not that I m complaining). Also they had a pool competition running everynight for a $60 bar tab. So made Anthony enter to see if he could win us any free drinks...and he didn´t disapoint! Think that he won it about 3 times in the end. The only problem being that the $60 bar tab didn{t go too far as everyone seemed to be Anthonys new best mate once he won. I even entered one night but was knocked out in the first round, so gave it a miss the other times!
Met some cool people while we were there. Wes who worked at Globe bar and a girl Ciara who kind of just tagged along! After one night at the Globe bar decided that we should really get out and see some other nightlife, so ended up in an Irish pub on a kareoke night. Classic...which Anthony stepping up to the mic to sing a bit of MJ. Also while we was staying there had a few reuniouns with people passing through that we had met on the Kiwi bus...another few druken nights.
As well as drinking in Auckland we also managed to do a bit of sightseeing...went up to see the harbour and different areas of Auckland. And also went to the cinema a couple of times. Seeing as we had two for $20 tickets it seemed rude not to.
And that is basically Auckland in a nutshell...also the end of New Zealand...off to Santiago.
