7 Day UK tour - Part 4:
Day 5 found us still in bed at 10:30 with angry hangovers and only 30 minutes to make it 3 blocks away for our free breakfast! We made it just in time to order massive cooked breakfasts with all the extras which was another impressive element of the amazing hotel we were staying at, the Grassmarket Hotel.
After breakfast we slumped back to our room for most of the afternoon to recover from the epic night before, until about 4pm when we sucked it up, and headed out to climb the tall hill/tiny mountain known as Arthur's Seat, which gives breathtaking 360 degree views of the city of Edinburgh. It took us well over an hour and a few close calls with the old hangover spew, but we made it to the top in tact and having sweated out most of the poison! The views were fantastic and we snapped some photos before retreating from the wind and heading back down for a recovery dinner of pie and veggies before an early night!
The next morning after another generous cooked breakfast, we headed back out of Edinburgh south along the coast with our final destination being York, for the final night of our tour :(. Along the way we stopped at:
1. Alnwick Castle - seat of the Percy family for over 700 years, with the family still living there today (including the Duke of Northumberland).
2. Whitby Abbey - An extremely old, ruined Benedictine abbey on a hill overlooking the town of Whitby. Dismantled by order of King Henry VIII during his creation of the Church of England.
3. Unknown named town - where Heartbeat the TV show was filmed, as well as Hogsmeade station for the first Harry Potter film.
