Hola from Spain again!
This morning we drove right into the heart of Seville and parked near the enormous cathedral and moorish palace (alcazar) with none of the difficulties we'd anticipated, as the city was nearly deserted. This might have had something to do with the heat... At 8:30pm that night we checked the weather to find it was still 43 degrees!
The heat really sapped our energy but we still managed to explore the countless inner chapels of the huge cathedral, climb the Giralda tower with 360 degree views of Seville, and explore the moorish palace with its gardens and beautifully intricate inner rooms.
Our little interesting story of the day today is thanks to the scummiest people that walk this earth; gypsies. We pulled into the train station in Seville to book our train tickets in advance for La Tomatina (tomato throwing festival) and were welcomed by the skinniest, feralist gypsy woman, gnawing on fried chicken as she tried to pretend to direct us to a carpark and then demand payment for her good deed. In an attempt to foil her, we went around the block and back to an empty park, only for her to spot us a mile away, come running over to us with enthusiasm, then stop 10 meters away and try to pretend she wasn't staring at us by suddenly glancing at the sky everytime we glanced in her direction. We waited a few minutes while she signaled to her co-scumbag to come over and help mug us, and then we gave up and drove around the corner, parking in a hidden street. As you can tell, this did not endear us to gypsy folk anymore than we'd previously been!
Next stop; Granada for the famous Alhambra! Ariba!
