Arrived in Christchurch late lastnight and luckly managed to get a bed for the night and tonight as well. Its very pretty here, kinda like England. Its not too big which is nice, and very flat so very easy to walk around. I have been to Christchurch Art Gallery which has the most amazinf exhibition I have ever seen,it was so cool! Its called 'Alchemy of Daily Life' and is a feature exhibtion of contempoary Korean Art, the general feel of it was turning the ordinary into the extrodinary! So good! Pieces like, a hotel room made out of noodles, a radio thats an iron and may fav, toy cars with butterfly wings in the moonlight! Oh yeah and a room which was completly dark and everything in it had its edge painted in UV paint so when UV light were turned on your could only see the orange paint that outined everything making it all apear like a 2D picture! Anyway, that was fab, also went to The Arts Centre which is huge, so many shops and galleries and workshops and bars and cafes. Really interesting to see all the native crafts as well and much more familiar work! From there I went to the Canterbury Museum which had a fantastic collection of original Maori tools, jewlerlly and carvings!Amazing things! Had a quick look in the Botanical Gardens and also a walk round the Catherdral before I finally felt an overload on culture! lol, really enjoyed it, particularly that Korean exhibition. Anyhow, its still raining now but never mind! Im off to Greymouth and the Fox Glacier tommorw before heading to Queenstown.
